Kirby emphasized that Hamas’ desire to wipe Israel off the map makes their actions genocidal and that Israel is right to defend itself. Despite concerns about political blowback, recent polling data shows that a majority of registered voters approve of Biden’s Israel policies. However, the 18-24 demographic was more divided in its opinions, showing implications for future attitudes toward Israel. While this issue may not be a determining factor for many voters in the upcoming election, the support of Independent voters may be crucial for Biden. However, the strong support for Israel may also drive away some Democratic voters. regardless of this, if the next election comes down to a matchup between Biden and former President Trump, it is unlikely that Democratic voters would abandon Biden on the Israel issue.
