Lt. Col. “Yarden” is in command of the first mixed male-female battalion operating in Gaza’s combat zones. The unit has been critical in inspecting areas for hidden lairs, weapons, terror infrastructure, and tunnels. They also assisted an IDF commando unit in breaking through structures and found a hidden underground floor with Hamas weapons. 40% of the unit is made up of female soldiers, and they are deeply involved in rescue missions for wounded soldiers. The unit works closely with the Oketz Unit and strategically operates in a similar way to the IDF in 2002 during Operation Defensive Shield. They also ensure that partially broken walls do not fall on the soldiers as they take up a new position.
