Candace Owens, conservative pundit, posted a cryptic message on social media using Bible quotes about persecution and worship of money, as well as the statement “Christ is King.” These posts came after her employer, Ben Shapiro, criticized her. Yashar Ali, a prominent journalist, suggested the posts were an antisemitic dog-whistle. Owens did not explain the meaning of her posts, but she later announced an interview with Tucker Carlson. Both Owens and Carlson have faced scrutiny for their comments on Israel. Owens has criticized Israel’s prosecution of the war against Hamas, claiming no country has a right to commit genocide. She also compared Israel to the American South under Jim Crow. In a debate with comedian Ami Kozak, Owens misunderstood the meaning of Jerusalem’s “Muslim Quarter.” The quarter has a historic and diverse population, including Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Armenians.
