Eleven hostages have diabetes and require daily medication. Despite repeated efforts to provide them with medication, Israel has not succeeded. An organization is urging the Red Cross and the International Diabetes Federation to provide life-saving medicine to the hostages. “Diabetics have been kidnapped and are held hostage in Gaza,” the organization said. It was accompanied by a video by two advocates. Friends of Medicine founder Baruch Lieberman expects the International Diabetes Federation to assist the abductees. The complications of untreated diabetes include severe disabilities, blindness, nerve damage, and kidney failure. Uncontrolled diabetes also increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and various types of cancer.
