Suzanne Bocanegra’s Artist Lectures are droll, multimedia talks ranging across her life, art history, and eccentric corners of Americana all presented onstage. Each piece is begun by a person like Lili Taylor or Frances McDormand, with the real Bocanegra using an actor to repeat what she murmurs into a microphone. Bocanegra’s “Bodycast” show explores years spent in a neck-to-hip spine-correcting cast as a teen-ager, branching into a discussion on classical sculpture and artists like Frida Kahlo and Marie Taglioni, as well as women disregarding their own discomfort. The show features a first-ever meeting between Ruth Negga and Bocanegra who bonded over being raised Catholic and will be performed on April 8th.
