There were over 20 rockets fired from Lebanon towards Israeli border areas on Wednesday, according to IDF Spokesperson’s Unit. The Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the rocket fire towards Kiryat Shmona. In response, the IDF targeted sites in southern Lebanon, including a Hezbollah observation point. Hezbollah also claimed to have targeted several IDF posts near the border but the IDF has not confirmed the reports. Lebanese Foreign Minister accused Israel of blind revenge. UNIFIL is working to contain the escalation in southern Lebanon. The commander of UNIFIL expressed deep concern about the situation in southern Lebanon. He stated that the priorities are to prevent escalation, safeguard civilian lives, and ensure the safety of peacekeepers. UNIFIL aims to uphold the principles of Resolution 1701 despite the current challenges.
