The White House said Israel is expected to allow humanitarian aid trucks to enter Gaza after a pause due to renewed fighting with Hamas. However, the number of deliveries will likely be decreased. White House national security spokesperson John Kirby stated that Israel agreed to resume allowing truck deliveries at the urging of the United States. But he mentioned that the number of truck deliveries would likely be reduced to dozens a day, compared to the hundreds that were entering Gaza daily during the previous week. Kirby also stated that Gaza requires more aid, but the decision to resume aid deliveries after stringent inspections is a positive sign for the future. US officials are working towards a resumption of a ceasefire to secure the release of more hostages held by Hamas. Kirby blamed Hamas for the breakdown in the truce, and corrected the number of American hostages released by Hamas so far from six to four.
