The families of some Gaza hostages were confronted by coalition MK Almog Cohen during a Knesset debate on enacting the death penalty for Palestinian terrorists. Cohen attacked the families, accusing them of not having a mandate on the pain. One father accused the lawmakers of wanting to kill Arabs and told them to start talking about saving Jews. Cohen responded by saying they did not have a mandate on the pain. The National Security Minister announced that the preparation for the first reading of the death penalty law for terrorists will be discussed in the National Security Committee. The Hostages’ Families Forum said that the bill calling to enact the death penalty for terrorists severely endangers the lives of the Gaza hostages. They stated that the timing of the debate risks the lives of their loved ones and doesn’t advance any public purpose. They also mentioned that the debate on the death penalty for terrorists is a mental terror attack that risks the lives of kidnapped children. The families’ request was ignored by the Otzma Yehudit MKs present at the meeting.
