At a conference on Wednesday, Otzma Yehudit MK Limor Son Har-Melech called for the entire Gaza Strip to be settled after the war. The conference, titled “Returning to the Gaza Strip,” took place in Ashdod and was attended by Likud MK Tally Gotliv. Gotliv expressed doubts about the deal to release hostages in Gaza, questioning the security forces’ recommendation to make a deal. The conference was also attended by Likud MK Ariel Kellner, head of the Samaria Council Yossi Dagan, and Eliyahu Liebman, head of the Kiryat Arba Council.
In the meantime, the IDF continues to prepare for a potential attack in the southern Gaza Strip. The IDF has been conducting airstrikes and artillery fire in the area but has not yet commenced ground maneuvering. Plans for a ground maneuver have been presented, and Defense Minister Galant has emphasized the intention to continue the maneuver.
Senior Hamas officials are believed to be entrenched underground in Khan Yunis, and senior security officials estimate that in order to reach or destroy them, the IDF must push deep into Palestinian territory. Criticism is growing against the war cabinet and senior security officials for not attacking certain parts of the Gaza Strip from the beginning of the war. These areas are seen as crucial to Hamas’ infrastructure in the region.
