Three Palestinian human rights groups seek International Criminal Court investigation, accusing Israel of committing war crimes including genocide by bombing and besieging Gaza. Israel did not immediately respond, stating it does not recognize the court’s jurisdiction and has previously said its actions target terrorists, not civilians. The rights groups want the ICC to focus on Israeli air strikes on civilian areas in Gaza, the siege of the territory, and the displacement of the population, claiming these actions amount to war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, and incitement to genocide. The ICC said it would assess the information provided. Hamas crimes were also brought to the attention of the ICC by Israeli victims’ families.
