The President of the United States, Joe Biden, announced that information about the second wave of hostage releases from the Gaza Strip will be shared with the US within the next hour. Biden stated that the US, along with Qatar, Egypt, and Israel, will work to ensure the full implementation of the deal over the next few days. Following the release of hostages, Biden addressed the press and mentioned that the fighting in Gaza will halt for four days as part of a deal reached through extensive US diplomacy. He also expressed hope for the release of American nationals held by Hamas. During the first day of the war’s truce, 24 hostages were released from Gaza, including Israeli women and children, Thai farm workers, and a Filipino. The hostages were transferred out of Gaza and handed over to Egyptian authorities at the Rafah border crossing.
