Hannah Katzir, one of 13 Israeli hostages returned to Israel from Hamas on Friday evening, was reported dead earlier this week, allegedly due to an Israel Air Force airstrike while being held by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The report of her death was apparently untrue, claiming she had “medical complications” resulting in her death. Katzir was identified as alive a couple of hours after the hostages were transferred to the Red Cross, who then brought them to Egypt and transferred them to Israeli forces. Two weeks prior, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad released a video of Katzir expressing her longing for her family. She was described as a woman with a “whole heart” who always gives to others and worked as a nanny in a kibbutz. Katzir and her murdered husband Rami were described as a dynamic duo. She has three children and six grandchildren.
