Avigail Idan, the three-year-old hostage mentioned by President Joe Biden, has been released from captivity after 52 days. She became an orphan following the October 7 attack which killed her parents, Roy and Samdar, by Hamas terrorists. Idan, who holds American citizenship, has been a symbol for the nearly 40 children captive by Hamas. She hid in her neighbor’s home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza during the massacre, while her two siblings, six-year-old Amalia and nine-year-old Michael, managed to survive. Her father, Roy Idan, attempted to capture photos of the Hamas terrorists on gliders entering the Kibbutz. Avigail’s grandfather expressed mixed emotions of happiness and sadness after the ordeal, mentioning his plans to preserve the memory of Roy and Smadar. Israeli singer Lior Narkis has offered to adopt Avigail and welcomed her into their family.
