A UN press release has urged the international community to apply maximum pressure on Israel to stop the fighting in Gaza, stating that the situation in the Strip suggests “a genocide in the making.” The report, quoting a team of experts, expressed deep concern about the failure of governments to achieve an immediate ceasefire and the support of certain governments for Israel’s strategy of warfare against the population of Gaza. The report also highlighted that half of all civilian infrastructure in Gaza has been destroyed as a result of Israel’s bombing campaign aimed at ousting the Hamas terrorist group. Additionally, the report stated that Israel has functioned as an occupying power within the Gaza Strip and called for immediate ceasefire, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the invitation of UN forces into the West Bank and Gaza.
